Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur after you have been through a traumatic event. A traumatic event is something horrible and scary that you see or that happens to you. During this type of event, you think that your life or others' lives are in danger. You may feel afraid or feel that you have no control over what is happening.

Anyone who has gone through a life-threatening event can develop PTSD. These events can include:

· Combat or military exposure

· Child sexual or physical abuse

· Terrorist attacks

· Sexual or physical assault

· Serious accidents, such as a car wreck.

· Natural disasters, such as a fire, tornado.

After the event, you may feel scared, confused, and angry. If these feelings don't go away or they get worse, you may have PTSD. These symptoms may disrupt your life, making it hard to continue with your daily activities.

VETERANS OF MODERN WARFARE

Bridging the Gap

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Advocacy

Today's combat veteran is exposed to more combat environments than any soldier in US history. Many of today's soldiers are required to serve second and third combat tours.  VMW Chapter One is very concerned about this abuse of young soldiers. Currently, one in three returning soldiers is suffering from some sort of psychological injury.  We have a burning desire to seek out, and assist these wounded warriors, and help them begin the healing process.  We are also dedicated to helping them obtain the benefits they so justly deserve.

“We will not lie, steal or cheat, or tolerate anyone who does.”

If you are going through the compensation process, do not go it alone.  Even the best  soldier  needs guidance through the VA compensation maze.  We will help you learn what to expect.  We will help you learn to communicate effectively with the Compensation & Pension examiner. We will prop you up, and not let you down.  What we will not do is teach you is how to “get over on the system”  We at Chapter 1 believe fervently that wounded warriors deserve, and should receive compensation at a fair level. We will fight for justice. We also believe that posers and cheats should be arrested and put in jail.  We hate the thought of a overworked and gummed up system due to scammers
